Army

Milan J. Gasch, age 89, of Chilton, died on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. He was born October 10, 1922 in the Town of Brothertown, son of the late Edgar & Vera (Amel) Gasch. On November 4, 1943, he was united in marriage to June Sattler in the Town of Calumet. An Army Veteran of WWII, Milan valiantly served his country in the United States Army on the Philippine Islands and in the Army of Occupation of Japan following the war. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the area where he continued the family heritage of farming. He was an active member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ where he served 8 years on the church council and as Congregational President. He was actively involved in the community having served on the Brothertown & Chilton School Board, the Chilton Co-op, and on the Calumet County Zoning Board of Adjustments for many terms. Milan was also a Charter Member of Lake to Lake and was a Lake to Lake Delegate. Milan took great pleasure farming; until his retirement, he farmed the land between the lake and the ledge. He was the 3rd generation who farmed that soil and was recognized as a Century Farm in 2000. Upon his retirement from farming, Milan devoted his time to the fruitful growth of Heritage Orchard; an orchard which he helped plant nearly 65 years ago. Although farming was Milan's first passion, he was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed fishing & hunting, listening to a good polka, square dancing, and was forever ready for a good round of Sheepshead. He was a very social person who found it easy to strike up conversation with anyone. Milan ... READ MORE →
